Spark ("we", "our", "us") is a personal idea capture and organisation tool. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. What we collect
When you use Spark, we collect and store:
- Account information: Your email address and display name when you sign up (via email/password or Google sign-in).
- Your content: Ideas, projects, and any text you enter into the app. This is your data and we store it solely to provide the service to you.
- Usage data: Basic analytics such as when you last logged in. We do not track your browsing activity outside of Spark.
2. How we use your data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Provide and maintain the Spark service (storing and syncing your ideas across devices).
- Power AI features (your idea content is sent to Google's Gemini AI to generate expansions and project overviews — this data is processed but not stored by Google for training purposes).
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never use your ideas or content for advertising.
3. Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), hosted in the europe-west1 region (Belgium). Firebase provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account only.
4. Third-party services
Spark uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase: Authentication, database, and hosting (Firebase Privacy Policy).
- Google Gemini AI: Powers the AI expansion and smart detection features. Your idea content is sent to Gemini for processing. Google's Gemini API does not use your data to train its models (Gemini API Terms).
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your ideas and projects are visible within the app at all times.
- Delete your data — you can delete individual ideas and projects within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at the email below.
- Export your data — contact us to request an export of your data.
- Withdraw consent — you can stop using the service at any time.
6. Cookies
Spark uses only essential cookies required for authentication (Firebase session tokens). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.
7. Children's privacy
Spark is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a notice within the app. Your continued use of Spark after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
